IRWA Chapter 74
Bluebonnet Chapter
President's Corner
Just got back from the Annual Region II
Educational Seminar, and am happy to report it was another good
one even though attendance was down to 194. There were several
reasons, but the main one was that the International Conference
was held in Austin only a month and a half before, and some
members just couldn't attend both. Even so, everyone enjoyed
the networking, and there were many excellent sessions. Special
thanks to Ron Olderog for coordinating Chapter 74's relocation
session, and Teri Morgan, Liz Norris and myself (I guess it's OK
to thank myself) for speaking at the session. One of our newest
SR/WA's - Gloria Yake was presented her plaque at the awards
luncheon, and ex-Chapter President and current Region Vice-Chair
was given the past Region secretary plaque.
A number of our members also represented the Chapter in the golf
tournament, and although we didn't break any records, everyone
had a good time and managed not to overheat. I think the "pink"
team consisting of Rebecca Thompson, Sandra Bowen and
International President Faith Rowland might have had the best
time (partially due the congealed refreshments that accompanied
their golf equipment). Yes, they shared.
Patti Bell continues to report new members, and the Chapter
remains financially strong despite lower class numbers and our
many expenses this year. For those of you that don't always get
to see the "International" perspective, rest assured that Region
II and it's Chapter are still considered a cornerstone of
the Association, and one of the greatest pools of talent in both
practices and leadership.
Next.............free membership appreciation river boat cruise
and dinner on August 7th (departs at 6:00pm). Guests $ 37.00,
children half-price. Call any officer/committee chair for
additional information. We really want to see all of you
there. Price is no excuse.
Don't forget the E.D. Seminar/Golf Tournament sponsored by the
San Antonio Chapter and Chapter 74 on September 11 and 12th.
Liz tells me it's shaping up to be a good one, and it remains
our largest fundraisers of the year for both the Chapter and
"Make a Wish" Foundation (golf tournament only).
No general meeting scheduled for August, so I guess I'll see all
of you on the river boat or at the September meeting. Enjoy the
rest of the summer and stay safe.
