IRWA Chapter 74
Bluebonnet Chapter
President's Corner
Welcome to
the beginning of summer. This is looked forward to by the
summer sun lovers and dreaded by the summer heat haters. Either
way, it is time to plan for those vacations to mountains and the
opportunity for some cooler temperatures.
As
indicated elsewhere in this Newsletter and from emails to the
Chapter, we will be foregoing our standard monthly Chapter
Meeting. Rather than meeting on the second Tuesday of the
month, we will meet on the first Tuesday of the month in June.
Also, rather than a lunch meeting it will be an evening
meeting. This will be more of a social gathering to allow us to
relax and enjoy an early summer evening. It will be a cash bar
for the members but the Chapter will provide appetizers. This
should prove to be a fun event. So, come, bring guests and
perhaps we can entice some of the non-member guests into joining
our happy, friendly, fun loving, smart, attractive, etc. group.
I really do feel we have a lot to offer to our membership and
this activity is one way of presenting these qualities to our
guests, as well as having fun ourselves.
As I
indicated, the IRWA has a lot to offer not only on the Chapter
level but also on the Regional and International level this
summer. In addition to the June social event/meeting, there
will be Course 800, Principles of Real Estate Law on June 5,
which was rescheduled from November 11 to replace the cancelled
Ethics Course 103. Next, will be Course 802, Legal Aspects of
Easements on July 10. There will be a joint meeting with the
Appraisal Institute for our July meeting on July 14, which will
have a 2 hour education credit associated with the attendance.
The 55th
Annual International Conference will be held in Indianapolis,
Maryland on June 28 through July 1, 2009. The Regional
Education Seminar will be held in College Station on the A&M
campus on August 13 and 14. Out of this extensive list, there
should be something of interest for everyone.
I am very
grateful to our Chapter committee members that offer their time
and energy to coordinate these events, as well as the membership
that turns out to take advantage of these opportunities and
participate. I believe it is this kind of effort and enthusiasm
that makes our Chapter so strong and alive.
Have a
great June and hope to see you at the Chapter meeting/Social on
the 2nd.
